2008-09 Birds,Butterflies and Blooms in my backyard : Birds. pictures are mainly for id's and a record of where and when they were seen. A lot of the birds were seen in my backyard. I have also included some of my backyard flowers, bushes and trees. I am landscpaping my yard for the wildlife. Jan 2012 Jersey Shores : Overnight visit to the Jersey shores, included stops at Avalon, Stone Harbor, Barnegat Lighthouse and Edwin Forsythe NWR. July 2011 , Shenandoah Nat'l Park : July 30, 2011 we took a daytrip to Shenandoah. We hiked on my favorite trail "Limberlost" . Ate lunch at the store at the Big Meadows. Hike a little on the Appalachian Trail to see the views of the valley and mountain ranges. Stuck in traffic for an hour on the Skyline Drive due to a motorcycle crash. We saw two different black bears, lots of deer, bunnies and butterflies. The yellow wildflowers were beautiful. A great day spent at Shenandoah.

Feb, 2010 Barnegat and the Jersey shore : We spent a day at the Barnegat Lighthouse beach. There were plenty of Harlequins , Long Tailed, Brants and a Common Eider. The evening we drove to Atlantic City and stayed at the Taj Mahal. The next morning we enjoyed a fantastic sunrise.

There are pic's from Jug Bay Sanctuary, Merkle Sanctuary and Patuxent River park. 2008-2009 Blackwater/Chincoteague : Birds seen at Chincoteague were: Piping Plovers, Blackbellied Plovers, Dowwitchers, Whimbrel, both Yellowlegs, Willet, Godwit, Dunlins, Sanderlings, Least Terns, Laughing Gulls, Brown Pelican, Northern Gannet, Canada Geese, Mallard Ducks, GB Heron, Tri-Colored Heron, Little Blue Heron, Green Heron, Great Egret, Snowy Egret, Cattle Egret, Black Skimmers, American Oystercatchers, Cormorants, Osprey, Bald Eagle , Northern Bobwhite and Black Necked Stilts in marsh area on the road out of Chincoteague.

July, 2009 Cruising the Caribbean on the Grandeur of the Seas : 9 night cruise to the Eastern Caribbean. Included 4 stops at the ports of San Juan Puerto Rico, St Thomas, Samana Dominion Republic and RCCL's Labadee. Our shore excursions included a city tour of San Juan, a boat ride and snorkel beach trip to St Johns from St Thomas. Another snorkel and beach trip to the Caye on Samana, Dominion Republic and more beach action at Royal Caribbean's island of Labadee. Birds seen in the Caribbean were Magnificent Frigatebird, a great sighting of the Brown Booby, Pelicans, different species of gulls and some unidentified birds.

2009 Cape May NJ : June 2008, we heard and saw lots of juvenile birds. The highlight was seeing a Piping Plover chick and adults running on the beach in front of us while we were walking down the beach at Cape May Lighthouse beach. We actually had to stop walking so the family could move off. We turned over around twenty or more horseshoe crabs on Higbee beach. Places we stopped to bird were Cape May Point, Cape May Lighthouse Park, The Nature Conservancy beach, Higbee Beach and Nummy Island and Avalon.

May 2009 Delaware Shorebirds : May 2009 Delaware shorebirds. Stops were made at Mispillion, Slaughter Beach, Port Mahon and Bombay Hook. Highlights were what seemed like thousands of RedKnots and Ruddy Turnstones eating the Horseshoe crab eggs. Other shorebirds seen were the many Ruddy Turnstones and Dunlins, Dowitchers, Willets, Sandpipers, Oystercatcher, Laughing Gulls, Herring Gulls, Black Bellied Plovers and lots of Horseshoe Crabs.
